ICT Laptop Clinic

Keeping your laptop optimized for speed and reliability, and your information safe and secure.

Covering the University of Saskatchewan community, the Laptop Clinic service is available for personal and University owned equipment. Complete a service request form here, and bring your Laptop to the Service Counter at the U of S Campus Computer Store in Lower Place Riel. Payment can be made via cash, debit card, credit card, or University CFOAPAL.

Tune Up
$75 + tax

ICT specialists will review and implement recommended optimizations including:

• Optimize Operating System for performance and reliability
i. Cleanup startup process
ii. Remove unnecessary trial software (bloatware)
iii. Remove redundant programs with your permission
iv. Apply recommended hardware driver and BIOS updates
v. Update operating system (patches/security updates)
• Update application software (as required)
• Ensure anti-virus software is operational and up to date
• Provide recommendations for additional service or additional hardware/software

Malware Removal
$125 + tax

ICT Specialists will analyze and remove malware from an infected computer and ensure anti-malware software is installed and functioning correctly.

• Perform in-depth removal of Malware
• Post removal assessment will be provided
• Ensure anti-virus software is operational and up to date

Note: Severely infected computers may require the System Rebuild Service. In such cases only the System Rebuild Service fee will be assessed.

System Rebuild
$175 + tax

ICT Specialists will analyze and re-install the operating system on a severely infected computer and ensure anti-malware software is installed and functioning correctly.

• Backup user data & settings
• Utilize application checklist to record installed programs
• Restore OEM operating system
• Install OS updates
• Restore user data

Note: Customer can opt to install software titles or have them installed professionally through the Software Installs service.

Software Installs
$30/title + tax

IT Specialists will confirm software requirements and ensure software title is successfully installed and operational.

• License Verification • May have to uninstall old software first

Operating System Upgrades
$125 + tax

IT Specialists will confirm hardware and software requirements for upgraded operating system, install and verify the upgraded operating system is operational.

• Upgrade your computer running Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7 or upgrade your Mac OS!
• Perform assessment on whether or not your computer can run Windows 7 or the latest Mac OS to be reviewed with client
Note: You must have the legal and appropriate Upgrade License/Media before we proceed.
• Backup User Data
• Upgrade (when possible) or wipe system drive and install new Operating System
• Install System Updates, Drivers, and model specific software
• Restore User Data

Hardware Upgrades
Cost dependant on component

Technical Specialists will install and test upgraded hardware or peripherals.

• A price quote will be provided by the Campus Computer Store. It is best to email your request in, along with any manufacturer part numbers or serial numbers of the product(s) you are looking to upgrade.
